Cal Schedule
After averaging just 23.9 points per game last fall, Justin Wilcox’s Cal team opened their 2023 college football campaign explosively, putting up 58 points on new AAC outfit North Texas. Sophomore back Jaydn Ott got the Golden Bear’s final season in the Pac-12 off to a flying start under new offensive coordinator Jake Spavital. Cal moves to the ACC next fall.

After their opening win over UNT, the Cal schedule gets a lot more brutal, starting with their Week 2 clash against Auburn. Their quest to surpass their two Pac-12 wins from 2022 starts on the road at Washington and they also travel to Utah and Oregon. If that wasn’t difficult enough, the Bears also face Oregon State and USC in one of the most difficult schedules in the nation.
Auburn Schedule
It’s safe to say that Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze isn’t a huge fan of flying across the country for a 10:30 p.m. ET kick-off on the West Coast. However, as the former Ole Miss and Liberty head coach embraces all elements of modern-day college football in his mission to return Auburn to relevancy, don’t expect the Tigers to sleepwalk their way into this game with Cal.
Freeze has rebuilt the Auburn roster and rejuvenated belief in the program in a very short space of time and they begin the game as a clear favorite. Yet, that might not be enough to overcome an SEC schedule that features four teams currently ranked inside the AP Top 25. Aside from their Iron Bowl clash with bitter rivals Alabama, the Tigers host Georgia and have to travel to LSU.
