Steven Siano murder-suicide case shocked the whole community and left them many unanswered questions.
In an unexpected turn of events, a Homer Township couple, Steven and Mary Siano, were discovered dead in their home on Saturday, April 2016, in what looks to be a terrible murder-suicide.
According to Will County court documents, the pair lived in the 16900 block of Meadowcrest Drive and had been involved in foreclosure proceedings since 2016.
The sad discovery was made by Will County sheriff’s deputies, who discovered that Steven Siano, 56, had a fatal gunshot wound to his head and Mary Siano, 54, had a single gunshot wound to her back.
According to Deputy Chief Rick Ackerson of the Will County Sheriff’s Office, there is compelling evidence at the site that Steven shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.

Mary Siano was reported to have a persistent medical problem that caused her to be in continual discomfort, prompting at least one of their adult daughters to return home to help with her care.
Nonetheless, according to court records, the couple had financial difficulties because of their $223,354 mortgage debt.
The Sianos had previously dealt with financial difficulties; in 2008, a second foreclosure lawsuit was brought against them, but it was eventually dropped.
In addition, court documents revealed a judgment of $23,215 against Mary Siano for nonpayment of federal taxes.
The pair also faced judgments from Silver Cross Hospital in 2011 for hospital costs totaling around $74,000, with records indicating a habit of skipping court hearings.
Furthermore, the incident is known to have occurred due to their financial debt, which led to family disputes, eventually leading to their death.
